Business problem

Google Workspace customers (aka. small to medium to large companies) have varying regulatory compliance needs based on the industry and countries they operate in.

Some industries (eg. government, finance) and some countries (eg. Netherlands) are more regulated than others.

In order for these companies consider to Workspace for their needs, we needed to strengthen our compliance offerings.
How might we build a foundational understanding of an entirely undefined research space — spanning diverse company sizes, industries, and markets — without any prior knowledge or established participant profiles to build from?

Generated foundational insights around companies’ compliance needs and workflows which guided product & design strategies.

Research also helped set context for a 3 day design-sprint that helped ideate and prioritise features for the H1’22 roadmap .
